What’s Happening!

Shalimar Yacht Basin is offering a New Year special that you just can't pass up!  Annual storage customers that pay for one year in full will receive one month's free storage, along with two free haul-outs which can be used for a pressure wash or inspection lift.

‘Amen’ to the Amendment!  A big, hearty, “Thank you!” to everyone who helped to get Amendment 6 passed during the past election! Hopefully, with the passage of this bill we can see more ‘common sense’ taxation to all of our recreational waterfront facilities, which can translate to keeping costs affordable to everyone who enjoys recreational boating. Time will tell how big a change this will be, but for now we say, “Thank you for helping us all out!”

Pardon our dust, part “??”!  Well, we finished our new seawall along the dry barn of the marina, but we’re just starting up! Besides the constant maintenance that a marina goes through, our next project will hopefully get started in early 2009, when we replace our in ground fuel tanks. We were hoping to get started around November/December, but that has been temporarily postponed. We’ll do our best to keep you all up to date as the major projects get underway.

Holiday Hours!  With the holidays upon us, here are the hours we will observe during the upcoming season:

December 24                8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Christmas Day             Closed
December 26                Service yard closed

December 31                8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
New Year's Day            Closed
January 2                     Service yard closed

The marina will resume regular Winter Business Hours on January 3, 2009. Happy Holidays!

How do you spell ‘gas relief’? L-O-W-E-R  C-O-S-T-S!  After an undesirable summer of record gas prices, some sanity has finally prevailed at the pumps…although it took a collapse of Wall Street to get it done! As always, we’ll do our best to bring you the lowest prices in fuel, treated with ValvTect Marine Additive to reduce fuel consumption and improve your engine’s performance on the bay to maximize your bang for your buck!

Water, Water, Everywhere!  Just a little note to everyone to please “think green” and be sure that the faucets you use are properly shut off when you’re done with them. If you notice any leaks, please let us know!

Update our records, please!  If you haven’t already done so, please send us your updated insurance declaration for your boat so we can keep our records up to date with yours.

December 8, 2008 – Fort Walton Beach Holiday Parade!  Starting at 6:30pm; Come on down to Eglin Parkway along the Uptown Station area to enjoy the annual festive event with floats, bands and more! For more information, contact Jo Main at 833-9576

December 14, 2008 - Holiday on the Harbor 22nd Annual Destin Boat Parade! Hosted by the Destin History and Fishing Museum, festivities will be held that afternoon all along the harbor with the parade starting at 6pm. Pick up an entry form at the Museum, Destin Community Center, City Hall, Destin Area Chamber of Commerce or online at www.destinhistoryandfishingmuseum.org. Public viewing is available from the docks and restaurants west of Grand Harbor Condominiums. Boat registration for the event is accepted at Destin History & Fishing Museum. (850) 837-6611.
